About Us

WeSwim's mission is to increase opportunities for disabled people to swim in London.

80% of disabled people want to be more active but there are high barriers. Swimming provides huge benefits for disabled people. The water takes your weight, eases pain, and opens up new ways to move.

Water has become my best friend and is the kindest form of exercise in terms of my pain tolerance.
Simone, swimmer at Vauxhall

We run local swimming clubs, led by volunteers, in partnership with swimming pools across London.

WeSwim was launched in 2019 when our founder Natasha Fleming saw how difficult it was for adults with disabilities to access opportunities to swim and be active in the water.

A lack of available pool space and support for people with disabilities means we are left with high demand and long waiting lists.

Our clubs provide disabled swimmers a new sense of freedom. Taking part improves mental and physical health and reduces social isolation.

We are always looking for new pools to work with to open new clubs so we can support more people to swim.

We’re a community. Sharing time, facilities, and experiences to help others. Together we remove barriers to create safe, inclusive, welcoming environments.

We’re dedicated to empowering adults with disabilities to be more active, to meet new people, and to build confidence along the way.

All so that one day, every adult with a disability will have a local opportunity to be active in, and around, water.

Progressive accessibility
We strive to be accessible in everything we do.
From the venues we use, to the way that we operate and communicate.

We come with no expectation of experience or ability. Everyone is welcome, both in-person and online.

Trusted to serve
Safe & reliable while adapting to meet needs.
We ensure our teams are DBS-checked and swimmers are supported by volunteers who are confident in the water. Our committees ensure that everyone is well supported and the service we provide is safe.

In balance
We always look for a balanced approach.
Considering quantity vs. quality. Challenging vs. reassuring individuals. Delivering efficiently vs customised solutions.
