As WeSwim grows, we are bringing on committed volunteers to take on additional responsibilities in managing the club and coordinating swim sessions. To that end, we are excited to announce that Meena Tafazzoli is taking on the role of Club Manager and will be working closely with Tash and Dan to coordinate our weekly swim sessions and ensure a smooth experience for swimmers and volunteers.
Meena is currently completing an MSc in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Prior to her Master’s, Meena worked as a management consultant in the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on patient and consumer health strategy. In the last year, Meena has volunteered as a coordinator for the Canonbury Mutual Aid Group, which supported nearly 200 people in the ward during spring, summer, and fall of 2020.
“I was so excited when I first learned about WeSwim – swimming is what I love to do most and so to find an opportunity to serve the community while doing something I love felt like a stroke of luck,” said Meena. “After my first session in the water with Tanika [on June 25th], I was sold – I knew that this is exactly what I wanted to be doing every Friday, forever, and so I reached out to Tash to see how I could get more involved.”
WeSwim volunteers and swimmers will see Meena poolside at upcoming swim sessions and may hear from her as they sign up for sessions. As Club Manager, Meena aims to foster a sense of community around WeSwim by building strong relationships with volunteers, swimmers, and carers.
If this is a community you too would like to be a part of, feel free to reach out to Meena (meena@weswim.club) or any of the other WeSwim coordinators to see how you can get involved!
